Policies That Destabilize Families Destabilize Providers

Dear Parents, Providers, and Advocates,

Child care providers in residential settings, this message is for you.

We are living in a defining moment for child care. This crisis is not distant, and it is not temporary. It is shaping the reality of our programs, our families, and our future right now. Funding instability, policy shifts, and rising costs are directly impacting enrollment, payments, and family stability.

History has shown us that real change comes when people stand together — and this is one of those moments. We must move with urgency, clarity, and purpose.

Bring your parents to ECE on the Move. This is not only a child care providers’ issue — it is a community issue. When child care is weakened, children suffer, families struggle, and providers are left to carry a burden that was never meant to be carried alone.

That era must end. But unity requires structure. Strength requires organization.

We are asking every provider to actively bring your families into our parent community and encourage them to join our growing parent database. This is critical. A strong, informed, and connected parent base gives us collective power. It allows us to communicate quickly, organize effectively, mobilize when necessary, and ensure that no family is left uninformed or isolated. Parents who join will receive updates, resources, action alerts, and information that directly affects their child care access and stability.

While this may feel like a parents’ fight, it is impacting all of us. Policies that destabilize families destabilize providers. Cuts that affect parents directly affect our programs. When families are informed and engaged, we are no longer reacting alone — we are responding together.

We are not just organizing — we are building a movement. A united force where child care providers and parents stand shoulder to shoulder, speak with one voice, and work together for accessible, affordable, and sustainable child care for every family.

Movements are not built by one — they are built by many.

Today it may be one provider facing hardship. Tomorrow it may be you.

Today it may be one family losing care. Tomorrow it may be the families you serve.

The future of child care will be written by those who choose unity over isolation, action over silence, and courage over fear.

Do not stand alone.

Do not leave parents uninformed.

Do not wait for change — be part of it.

Participating in this movement and inviting families to join does not affect your licensing or program standing. This is about information, organization, and collective advocacy.

Bring them forward. Help us build our parent community. Strengthen our database. Build with us. Stand with us.

The time is now. The movement is now.

In unity, strength, and purpose,

Gladys Jones
